How the calculator works
The marketplace takes a percentage of the sale price and sometimes a flat fee per item. What you keep is the price × (1 − fee percentage) − flat fee. The calculator works backward from that.
Price for a target profit = (cost each + profit each + flat fee) ÷ (1 − fee percentage).
Break-even price = (cost each + flat fee) ÷ (1 − fee percentage).
Example (the 13% fee here is only an example, not a real platform's rate): you paid $37.80 for an Elite Trainer Box, fees are 13% plus $0.30, and you want $20 profit. (37.80 + 20 + 0.30) ÷ 0.87 = $66.78. At that price the 13% fee leaves about $58.10, and the $0.30 flat fee leaves $57.80: your $37.80 cost plus $20 profit.
Common questions
- How do I calculate profit on a sealed Pokémon product I resell?
- Take what you receive from the sale after fees, then subtract what the item cost you including tax. Profit per item = selling price × (1 − fee percentage) − flat fee − cost each.
- What is a break-even price?
- It's the selling price where you neither make nor lose money after fees: (cost each + flat fee) ÷ (1 − fee percentage). Selling below it loses money.
- How do I find the price I need for a target profit?
- Add your target profit per item to your cost and flat fee, then divide by (1 − fee percentage). Enter your cost and fees above and choose "I want a profit" and the calculator does this for you.
- Does the calculator know my marketplace's fees?
- No. Fee rates change and differ by seller, so you enter your own fee percentage and flat fee. Check your marketplace's current fees before relying on the result.
